Arsenal are preparing a £70 million bid to sign Bruno Guimaraes, Newcastle United's Brazilian captain, to strengthen their squad in this summer's transfer window. The 28-year-old midfielder is a top target for the manager and the club, as he has clearly expressed his interest in joining the Gunners, who are the Premier League champions.
Negotiations regarding the possibility of a transfer are ongoing and have progressed more rapidly in recent days. Personal terms with the player are expected to be straightforward, but the key question to follow is whether Arsenal's £70 million offer will match the valuation set by Newcastle.
However, sources close to Newcastle confirm that the club has no intention of letting Guimaraes go this summer and stated that there has been no direct official approach from Arsenal's side yet.
Arsenal have shown strong determination to elevate the team's quality to build on the success of the previous season. Previously, they had interest in Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa before the player moved to Chelsea for a £117 million fee. At that time, Arsenal refused to pay beyond their set £80 million price cap and chose not to match Chelsea's offer. This strict approach has also been applied to the Guimaraes deal, with the club refusing to spend beyond necessity.
Arsenal's current transfer policy reflects careful financial management and strict price cap setting to prevent overspending beyond true value, which is an important lesson many Premier League clubs are adopting to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

In the attacking department, after missing out on Morgan Rogers, Arsenal are still looking for reinforcements, with Julian Alvarez, the Atletico Madrid striker, being a dream target. However, the main obstacles are the player's desire to move to Barcelona as well as a potential transfer fee that could exceed the British record of £125 million paid when Alexander Isak moved from Newcastle to Liverpool.
