Following the tragic passing of Hulun Solo, which shocked people across Thailand, entertainment figure and former diplomat Gib Wasu Saengsingkaew has stepped forward to shed light on the official protocols involved in bringing a deceased person back to Thailand, explaining why the process requires time.
Normally, when a Thai citizen passes away overseas, local police investigate the scene, gather evidence, and conduct an autopsy at the local forensic institute. The findings are then reported directly to the Royal Thai Embassy. Alternatively, the host country's foreign ministry can notify the Thai embassy through official diplomatic channels. Once the documents arrive, they are forwarded to the Department of Consular Affairs on Chaeng Watthana Road, specifically to the Protection and Welfare of Thai Nationals Abroad Division.

The Protection and Welfare of Thai Nationals Abroad Division under the Department of Consular Affairs serves as the primary government unit handling overseas emergencies and fatalities involving Thai citizens, coordinating closely with foreign embassies and international agencies.
Following consular notification, the Ministry of Interior is informed, which subsequently passes the information down to local district offices or provincial authorities in the hometown of the deceased individual.
However, the rapid spread of information via social media today leads to immediate public demands for answers while forensic investigations are still ongoing overseas. These dynamics can be viewed from two distinct sides: domestic procedures and foreign jurisdiction.
