At MoMA PS1 in New York, artist Precious Okoyomon has transformed the museum's courtyard into a living forest titled Among the Flowers I Learned to Love: A Garden of Decreation, running from July 31st, 2026 through 2028. The installation merges cultivated and wild plant species with sculptures and soundscapes that shift with the seasons, alongside a giant teddy bear visitors can enter, addressing how public spaces might adapt to unpredictable climate changes.

Meanwhile, Tate Modern in London brings together more than 120 works by Ana Mendieta from July 15th, 2026 to January 17th, 2027. The exhibition features newly remastered films, early paintings, and late sculptures alongside her celebrated Silueta series, utilizing earth, fire, water, and flowers to outline the artist's form within the landscape.
This August exhibition lineup highlights a strong trend toward site-specific and immersive installations that go beyond traditional gallery walls. From living ecosystems and architectural light sculptures by Dan Flavin to repurposed shipping crates used in Chinese architecture displays at the Aedes Architecture Forum, these exhibitions invite visitors to experience space, material, and environment in unconventional ways.
Other notable exhibitions include a focused survey of Dan Flavin's fluorescent light works at the Venet Foundation in Le Muy, France, running from May 8th to October 3rd, 2026. In South Korea, the Sehwa Museum of Art presents a six-decade retrospective of Georg Baselitz from August 13th to December 27th, 2026, while Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam pays tribute to Wim T.
