Pita Rallies People's Party MPs: Do Not Retreat, Showcase a New Choice for Thailand

Between August 1 and 2, the People's Party convened a seminar for its members of parliament and network members at the Maple Hotel in the Bang Na district. The gathering focused on addressing operational challenges, fine-tuning working processes, and shaping the party's future strategic direction amidst the current political landscape.

During a key segment of the seminar, former Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat delivered a special keynote speech. Drawing from his experiences interacting with politicians and youth abroad while teaching at universities, Pita noted that the People's Party has gained international acclaim, serving as a blueprint for modern political movements. He shared that young people in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Chile, and Colombia have expressed a desire for a political party similar to the People's Party in their own nations.

"Party members may feel exhausted or discouraged by the political climate, but look at the successes the party has achieved: winning additional MPs in various regions, expanding our operational base in Bangkok, and producing Thailand's first female Bangkok Metropolitan Council President. Everyone is allowed to feel tired or discouraged, but do not retreat. Be confident that when the political window opens, the party will have sufficient readiness to turn opportunity into victory. We must build a water dipper large enough to scoop up the maximum amount of water when conditions are favorable."

Pita also advised MPs and party members to closely monitor global affairs, pointing out that the world is currently facing a dual-pressure crisis: geopolitical tensions driving up living costs, and internal political decay rendering governments worldwide inefficient. He framed these developments as both challenges and opportunities for the opposition to present Thailand with a fresh alternative.

Furthermore, Pita assessed that the latter half of the year will feature a continuous stream of major global events, including the Chinese Communist Party leadership meetings, United Nations assemblies, a meeting between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump, elections in Israel and Brazil, the US midterm elections, and the G20 summit. All of these developments will inevitably impact Thailand's economy, cost of living, and policy execution. Additionally, he warned of direct climate change threats such as El Niño, floods, wildfires, and heatwaves, urging People's Party MPs to formulate preemptive policy proposals to offer solutions ahead of the government.

"Our hoped-for goal is to be a visionary party that demonstrates Thailand has choices beyond just blue, prompting citizens to return our mandate manifold, encouraging massive voter turnout, and giving us the chance to win, take power, and transform the Thailand we all love together."

In his closing remarks, Pita underscored the vital importance of internal party unity. He urged members to trust one another, work collaboratively as a team, and adhere to the principle that everyone's problem is shared, ultimately pushing the People's Party forward as a visionary and transformative choice for the country's future.
