Quantum Club Thailand Launched to Drive National Quantum Tech

Thailand has taken a major technological leap forward with the launch of 'Quantum Club Thailand', a national collaborative platform for quantum technology. This initiative is a joint effort between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Charoen Pokphand Group, Arise Ventures Group, True Corporation, the Quantum Technology Research Initiative Consortium (QTRic), and US-based quantum software provider qBraid. The primary goal is to connect government agencies, universities, researchers, industries, startups, investors, and global technology partners to accelerate quantum development and adoption.
The launch event was presided over by Prof. Dr. Yodsanan Wongswadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of MHESI, alongside key figures including Suphachai Chearavanont, Dr. Teerapol Thanomsakyuth, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worawat Meevasana, Ricky Young, and Prof. Dr. Sompong Klaharn. Prof. Dr. Yodsanan stated that MHESI aims to drive a new economy through advanced technologies, viewing quantum technology as a key factor in enhancing national competitiveness alongside workforce development and research commercialization.

Suphachai Chearavanont, Senior Vice Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group and Chairman of True Corporation, emphasized that the transition to the quantum era is a structural transformation where 'people' are the most crucial asset, surpassing computers or machinery. Thailand must shift from being a technology follower to a co-creator with its own researchers and entrepreneurs to secure long-term competitiveness.

Ekaraj Panjavinin, Head of Research and Innovation at True Corporation, added that True views quantum as the next-generation infrastructure, integrating its smart network and digital ecosystem to drive the initiative. To mark the launch, True announced free access to qBraid, a US-based cloud software platform that simplifies quantum computing by enabling multi-hardware access and cross-platform code translation.
Quantum computing utilizes qubits that can exist in multiple states simultaneously (Superposition), differing from classical computers that process bits as strictly 0 or 1. Platforms like Quantum Club Thailand play a crucial role in lowering financial and knowledge barriers, enabling Thailand to access global-grade tools and foster commercial use cases rapidly.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worawat Meevasana, Chairman of QTRic, revealed that QTRic currently holds over 80 quantum technology prototypes and a network of more than 120 researchers from 19 partner organizations, ready to push Thailand toward becoming ASEAN's Quantum Hub.
