On August 3, Ms. Rachada Dhnadirek, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced a significant diplomatic schedule. Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is gearing up to officially welcome Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing for an official visit scheduled between August 6 and 7. This upcoming trip represents the President's very first official visit to Thailand since assuming his current office.
The government spokesperson emphasized that this diplomatic visit highlights the profound importance of Thailand-Myanmar relations as close neighboring countries. It serves as a crucial opportunity to drive bilateral cooperation forward into tangible outcomes, particularly concerning pressing issues that directly impact national security, the quality of life for citizens on both sides, and collaborative efforts within ASEAN frameworks.
Official visits by high-ranking neighboring leaders carry immense geopolitical weight, particularly given the complex dynamics of cross-border trade, security, and labor between Thailand and Myanmar. Such engagements provide a direct channel for leaders to address shared regional challenges and reinforce institutional ties at the highest level.
According to the official itinerary on August 6, the Thai Prime Minister will welcome the Myanmar President at Government House, accompanied by an honor guard inspection ceremony. Following the welcoming ceremony, both leaders will engage in restricted group discussions and plenary meetings to exchange perspectives on strengthening comprehensive bilateral relations.

Following the official discussions, both sides will witness the signing and exchange ceremony of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between various Thai and Myanmar agencies, alongside a ceremonial handover of assistance. In the evening, the Thai Prime Minister will host an official state dinner in honor of the Myanmar President.
Furthermore, both leaders are scheduled to jointly preside over the opening ceremony of the Thailand–Myanmar Business Forum 2026. This forum is organized specifically during this official visit to act as a vital platform for stimulating economic partnership, bilateral investment, and networking opportunities between the private sectors of both nations.
