The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has advanced its tourism strategy by signing strategic partnership agreements with two major industry players: TransNusa Airlines and the digital travel platform Traveloka. These collaborations aim to expand air travel connectivity, strengthen digital marketing efforts, and drive a higher volume of Indonesian travelers to Thailand, while fostering closer bilateral tourism and business cooperation within the wider ASEAN framework.
The agreement was officially signed by key executives, including Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT; Datuk Bernard Francis, Aviation Group Chief Executive Officer of TransNusa Airlines; and Mr. Albert, Co-founder of Traveloka, combining vital forces in both aviation access and digital platform technology.
Indonesia is an important ASEAN market for Thailand, supported by close cultural ties, convenient travel and growing demand for diverse tourism experiences.

Ms. Thapanee further noted that these partnerships advance TAT’s Partnership 360 strategy by combining air access, digital reach, and market insights. They also support the global 'Healing is the New Luxury' campaign by connecting travelers with meaningful experiences across both established and emerging destinations, while extending tourism benefits to local communities and the broader economy.

Under the agreement with TransNusa Airlines, TAT will focus heavily on tourism promotion, travel product development, and strengthening air links between Indonesia and Thailand. Activities will support the 'Feel All the Feelings – Visit Thailand, Feel Every Emotion' campaign through tourism fairs, promotional campaigns, digital content, workshops, and familiarisation trips, alongside efforts to fortify the Jakarta–Bangkok and Bali–Phuket routes.
Partnering simultaneously with both an airline and a digital platform represents a comprehensive ecosystem approach by TAT. This method tackles travel bottlenecks right from the top of the funnel with flight accessibility down to digital accommodation and activity bookings, ensuring efficient and measurable market stimulation within the ASEAN region, particularly in Indonesia.
The partnership with Traveloka will leverage the platform's digital reach, distribution capabilities, and market intelligence to promote destinations and tourism experiences across Thailand. It will also support TAT’s Sustainable Tourism Goals by raising awareness of responsible travel, sharing consumer insights, planning joint campaigns, and communicating relevant tourism policies, entry requirements, and safety measures, all subject to appropriate data privacy and security safeguards.
Official statistics show that from 1 January to 31 July 2026, Thailand welcomed 376,337 Indonesian visitors, who stayed for an average of six nights. Their primary interests include Thai cuisine, historical sites, community-based tourism, wellness experiences, and beaches. TAT aims to attract a total of 890,000 Indonesian visitors throughout 2026.
