Social Security Progressive Team Sues to Revoke Election Delay

On August 5, 2026, at the Central Administrative Court, the Progressive Social Security team led by Thanathorn's political ally and board candidate Thanathorn's network, alongside 14 board candidates headed by Thanathorn's faction representative, officially filed a lawsuit asking the court to revoke the announcement delaying the social security board election and to order the election to proceed on the original date of September 27, 2026, allowing voters to cast ballots without prior advance registration.

Thanathorn's representative and lead candidate Thanathorn's faction member emphasized that the administrative court's order merely suspended the conditions regarding advance registration, rather than ordering a postponement of the entire election process. Nevertheless, the Social Security Election Committee halted every stage, which is considered an action exceeding the court's command and utilizing the judicial order as a pretext to obstruct social security reform.

The team noted that the indefinite postponement might be a political maneuver by power networks within the Ministry of Labor to stall the return of authority to insured individuals. Although the previous social security board's term expired in February, prolonged delays have left fund management in an administrative vacuum for over five months.

This situation deviates from standard protocol since the previous board finished its term in February, meaning voting should have taken place around May to yield a new board by now. Instead, over 70 percent of the groundwork to organize the election had already been completed, leaving only the actual ballot casting.
