Elon Musk’s ambitious attempt to build an AI-powered online encyclopedia via xAI, known as Grokipedia, appears to have completely stalled. According to a report published by Lawfare, the platform designed to rival Wikipedia has not received a single update or content change since April 24th, with investigators noting that no entry has been altered in more than three months.
Grokipedia originally debuted in version 0.1 back in October 2025 featuring an initial pool of 885,000 articles, before transitioning to version 0.2 in November 2025 with over 6,000,000 total articles listed on grokipedia.com/live. Despite boasting millions of pages, the platform's live tracking page currently features a section titled "Recent changes to…" accompanied by a blunt status message reading, "No live edits available right now."
While visitors are still technically permitted to submit new article ideas and suggest corrections for individual pages, Lawfare’s investigation into both popular and obscure pages uncovered a total lack of processing. Researchers analyzed 34,519 pages containing a combined 225,496 recommended edits and discovered zero accepted or rejected corrections dated within the preceding three-month window.

The sudden plateau of Grokipedia underscores the massive operational hurdles involved in maintaining and moderating hyper-scale AI-generated knowledge bases. When high-profile technology ventures abruptly halt their curation cycles without official communication, it triggers widespread industry skepticism regarding the long-term viability and resource allocation for AI-driven publishing platforms, especially when key figures like Elon Musk have reportedly remained silent on the project since February.
As xAI has not immediately responded to requests for comment regarding the status of the platform, community members across Reddit and X have begun openly wondering whether Grokipedia is effectively "dead" and abandoned by its creators.
