On August 6, 2026, the Kawiwinit Pavilion at Wat Debsirin in Bangkok was filled with prominent figures from politics and various other sectors who gathered to pay their respects at the funeral of Pol. Lt. Gen. Phon Palatrukha, who passed away peacefully at the age of 103.
Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra attended the evening prayer ceremony alongside his daughter Pinthongta Shinawatra Kunakornwong and son-in-law Natthapong Kunakornwong to offer condolences to the grieving family.
Several senior members and MPs from the Pheu Thai Party, as well as individuals close to the family, were also present to honor the late general, including Phumtham Wechayachai, Chusak Sirinil, Jiraporn Sindhuprai, and Nattawut Saikour.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Phon Palatrukha was widely known as the father of Dr. Pakpilai Thavisin, who is the wife of Srettha Thavisin, the 30th Prime Minister of Thailand.

The family's funeral arrangements began with the bathing ceremony and royal bathing rites on August 2. Funeral prayers were held from August 2 to 4 and August 6 to 7 at 6:30 PM, with suspensions on August 5 and 8.
The royal cremation ceremony will take place on August 9 at Wat Debsirin, following this official schedule:
- 10:00 AM: Ten monks recite Buddhist prayers
- 11:00 AM: Offering of a meal to the monks
- 14:00 PM: Ten monks perform Matika and Bangsukul chanting
- 15:00 PM: Procession circling the crematorium before placing the casket on the pyre
- 17:00 PM: Royal cremation ceremony
