- The system can pull data from calendars to create daily work summaries and assist with planning
- Powered by the new Muse Spark 1.1 model and rolling out for use now
Meta is taking a major step to upgrade its artificial intelligence chatbot, focusing on its capability as a personal assistant to challenge key market competitors such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. This update allows Meta AI to access user calendar data to help plan activities, generate daily schedule summaries, and conduct deep searches where users can control the search direction while the system is processing.
The company stated in a blog post that this change marks the next step toward the goal of "personal superintelligence," a vision previously mentioned by CEO Mark Zuckerberg as the future of artificial intelligence technology. Behind these new capabilities is the newly launched Muse Spark 1.1 model, which expands the chatbot's abilities beyond traditional question-answering, image generation, and document drafting.

This move is particularly interesting because top executive Chris Cox previously stated that Meta's strategy focused on entertainment and connecting with friends rather than competing on productivity features in the same way as OpenAI or Google. Shifting direction to emphasize assistant features now reflects the fierce competition in the AI market, which forces every company to offer features covering practical work.
The new capabilities added to Meta AI include:
- Generating daily schedule summaries based on personal calendars
- Searching for items on Facebook Marketplace according to a specified budget
- Helping find restaurants and automatically selecting available dates in the calendar
- Setting up single commands, such as organizing weekly meal plans or tracking restocked items without needing to re-type instructions
Additionally, the chatbot has been enhanced with the ability to summarize information from various websites and compile it into reports, presentations, or project plans. Users can also immediately adjust Meta AI's working direction while the system is generating answers, a function similar to what is available in ChatGPT.
This new Meta AI update begins rolling out today for "certain markets" via the Meta AI application and on the website, with services expanding to users in other countries as well as platforms like WhatsApp in the coming weeks.
