The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has showcased its commitment to strengthening cultural and tourism ties between Thailand and China at a major international event. Organised jointly by Weibo and Hydroindus, with Be On Cloud acting as the official Thailand host, the Weibo Gala 2026 featured a vibrant programme including sponsor activations, a red-carpet ceremony, an awards presentation spanning nine distinct segments, and an exclusive after-party. The gala celebrated individuals and organizations whose efforts in entertainment, culture, and communication have successfully bridged communities in both nations, featuring notable appearances by Chinese actors He Changxi and He Yanzhao, alongside Thai actor Apo Nattawin and Butterbear.
A major highlight of the evening was Thailand securing the prestigious Weibo Thailand Best Travel Destination Country award, accepted on behalf of the nation by Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT. This recognition serves as a testament to the enduring trust Chinese travellers place in Thailand, reflecting the tourism sector's collective dedication to elevating service standards and welcoming global visitors to experience the wonders of Amazing Thailand.

"This award affirms the confidence Chinese travellers continue to place in Thailand and represents a shared achievement for our tourism sector and communities nationwide."
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor
Ms. Thapanee further noted that TAT plans to build upon this strong foundation by introducing Chinese audiences to a diverse array of Thai experiences, encompassing culture, cuisine, nature, wellness, sport, and vibrant local festivals, while expressing gratitude to Weibo for expanding the nation's digital reach.
The strategic partnership at the Weibo Gala 2026 highlights the effective integration of entertainment-driven marketing and fandom economies to reach digital-native audiences in China. By leveraging high-profile artists for destination storytelling, tourism boards can foster emotional connections and convert online engagement into tangible travel demand far more effectively than through conventional advertising channels.
Beyond the awards ceremony, the collaboration extends into reciprocal Vlog productions. Chinese artists He Changxi and He Yanzhao are set to explore Ko Samet in Rayong as well as the historic Song Wat and Talat Noi districts in Bangkok, whereas Apo Nattawin and Butterbear will embark on filming expeditions across China. These visual projects aim to capture the local lifestyles, culinary scenes, and destinations of both countries, engaging fan communities and Weibo users alike.
This promotional initiative aligns closely with the ongoing marketing strategies implemented by TAT’s five offices across China under the umbrella of Amazing Thailand, The Journey Your Heart Leads, and the “Zhong Tai Yi Jia Qin” (China and Thailand are one family) framework. Through coordinated distribution via official channels, partner media, and participating influencers, the campaign aims to generate a minimum of 20 million impressions.
