RUF EHRA debuts in Monterey with manual gearbox

German car manufacturer RUF has made a striking return to The Quail 2026 with the introduction of the RUF EHRA, a new widebody fastback designed to blend extreme performance with everyday driving comfort. The vehicle marks the brand's latest effort to push engineering boundaries while accommodating long-distance driving conditions.
The car's moniker draws inspiration from racing driver Phil Hill, who famously set a top-speed record at the Ehra-Lessien proving ground aboard the original CTR Yellowbird. Building upon that legacy, RUF has expanded the EHRA's capability to handle varied road conditions and extended journeys. While sharing RUF's proprietary carbon-fiber monocoque platform with the CTR Anniversary, the EHRA distinguishes itself with a wider stance—growing 58 millimeters at the front track and 54 millimeters at the rear—flowing into an elongated fastback rear deck.
Aerodynamic updates include a carbon-fiber spoiler that automatically deploys at highway speeds or can be manually operated from the cabin, replacing the traditional fixed whale tail. Beneath its widened bodywork, the EHRA is powered by a 3.6-liter twin-turbo boxer six engine that churns out 650 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. Power is channeled through a seven-speed manual gearbox and a fully variable all-wheel-drive system equipped with a limited-slip differential.

The chassis setup features double wishbones at all four corners coupled with pushrod-actuated horizontal adaptive dampers, granting engineers tighter command over wheel movement. The production model makes its debut in a Liquid Silver finish that highlights its uninterrupted rear deck and muscular proportions, complemented inside by hand-stitched natural brown leather in a Pasha checkered pattern against dark matte carbon trim.
The inclusion of a seven-speed manual transmission in such a high-performance modern vehicle is a deliberate nod to driving purity, standing apart from the industry's widespread shift toward automated gearboxes and heavy electronic driver aids. Furthermore, powering the display fleet with renewable e-Fuels through HIF Global highlights how elite manufacturers are exploring alternative energies without compromising traditional mechanical engagement.
The RUF EHRA shares the lawn at The Quail alongside customer deliveries of the RODEO, CTR Anniversary, SCR, and CTR3 EVO. Notably, all of RUF's vehicles showcased during Monterey Car Week are running entirely on renewable e-Fuels resulting from a new partnership with HIF Global.
