AI coding startup Cursor is now officially a part of SpaceX, according to an announcement published on the Cursor blog. Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which also acquired Musk’s xAI earlier in the year, initially announced a deal back in April for the two companies to develop technology together, which included an option for SpaceX to acquire Cursor for $60 billion.
Two months after that initial agreement, as SpaceX became a public company, both firms confirmed they were moving forward with the acquisition process. The finalization marks a major milestone in integrating advanced coding AI capabilities directly into the broader SpaceX ecosystem.

In the official announcement confirming that the deal has closed, Cursor repeatedly highlighted SpaceX’s computing infrastructure. SpaceX has notably been renting out this infrastructure to external customers such as Anthropic and Google, though the company has also faced a lawsuit regarding pollution created by its data center gas turbines.
