A woman identified as Jane Doe 4 has officially joined a lawsuit originally filed by three teenagers from Tennessee against Elon Musk’s xAI, highlighting the alleged role of the company’s AI chatbot Grok in generating child sexual abuse material.
According to reports by The Washington Post, the woman alleged that her stepfather manipulated a photograph taken when she was 11 years old using Grok, resulting in more than 7,000 explicit images of her. She also stated that her stepfather was found dead of suicide just two days after law enforcement raided their home and uncovered the files.
"Limitless access to these tools is spreading so quickly. It is taking everyday life and turning it into child sexual abuse."

The teenage plaintiffs previously accused xAI (now integrated into SpaceX) of neglecting basic safety measures to prevent Grok from fabricating explicit imagery of real people, including minors. This follows previous incidents where X was flooded with millions of Grok-generated sexualized images earlier this year.
This lawsuit underscores the rising legal and ethical challenges surrounding unchecked Generative AI technologies. As advanced chatbots become widely accessible, the lack of strict guardrails against malicious manipulation has sparked severe safety concerns, pushing regulators and plaintiffs to hold AI developers accountable for preventing severe harm to minors.
