The House of Representatives Committee on Legal Affairs, Justice, and Human Rights has conducted a formal inspection tour across Yala and Songkhla provinces between August 17 and 18, 2026. The mission centers on examining law enforcement, administration of justice, and human rights protection to support the peacebuilding process in Thailand's southern border region.
The delegation is led by Committee Chairman Rangsiman Rome, alongside key advisors and members including Pol. Col. Thawi Sodsong and Natthachon Srikokrak, as well as Spokesperson Laofang Banditterdsakul and Secretary Romadon Panjor, who began their official duties on the first day of the trip.
The itinerary on August 17, 2026, commenced with a visit to Sahabat restaurant near Khwan Mueang Park in Mueang Yala district, Yala province. The committee met directly with individuals affected by alleged human rights violations to gather in-depth insights into the challenges faced by local residents.

Following this session, the delegation proceeded to the Southern Border Provinces Police Operation Center in Mueang Yala district to review law enforcement operations conducted by police officers in the region. After allowing media outlets to capture initial footage, the committee held a closed-door meeting to receive briefings and exchange detailed information with senior security officials.
Parliamentary oversight visits in Thailand's southern border provinces serve as a crucial mechanism for legislators to evaluate state operations, particularly regarding special security laws and human rights safeguards. Direct engagement with both security agencies and affected civilians enables the committee to gather empirical data for future policy recommendations within the Thai parliament.
Key security officials participating in the briefing included the Commissioner of the Southern Border Provinces Police Operation Center, the Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 9, and the Commanders of the Southern Border Provinces Investigation Division, Forensic Science Center 10, and Yala Provincial Police.
The first day's schedule also included inspections of operations at Lam Mai Police Station in Mueang Yala district and community-level safety assessments through public hearings at Ban Phron School in Mueang Yala.
On August 18, 2026, the committee is scheduled to travel to Songkhla province to examine immigration law enforcement and the promotion of border trade at the Pha Dam meeting room in Sadao District Office, aiming to align border management with economic development and national security.
