LIV Golf has officially cancelled its upcoming Team Championships in Michigan following weeks of speculation, confirming that the August 27-30 event will not take place. Expectations had grown after players like Tyrrell Hatton entered the British Masters for those exact dates and ticket sales were halted.
The confirmation arrived via a statement on Monday outlining major schedule updates, meaning the ongoing event in Indianapolis will now act as the final tournament of the season and double as the team competition. The breakaway league has faced an uncertain future ever since Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund withdrew its financial backing in April.
LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil, who recently noted that new investors had been secured, explained that wrapping up the season immediately allows the organization to channel all resources into managing the rigorous demands of this transition period.
