On August 18 in Sydney, Australia, Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over a networking reception organized by the Thailand Board of Investment. The event aimed to build strong business connections and create trade and investment opportunities between the private sectors of both nations.

Narit further explained that while Australian investment in Thailand has been relatively low in the past, it presents significant potential for future collaboration. Instead of massive capital ventures, the focus lies on specialized system development that can advance Thailand's high-technology sectors. Later that evening, the Prime Minister also joined a dinner discussion with executives from both countries.
"While Australian investment in Thailand has been small in the past, it presents an opportunity to expand cooperation in the future, focusing on specialized system development to advance Thailand's high-tech sector."
The high-level Thai business delegation accompanying the Prime Minister consisted of 21 executives, including Noppadon Kannout from B.Grimm Power, Thanarat Chaisiris from Banpu, Supharat Chirathivat from Central Group, Panote Sirivadhanabhakdi from Frasers Property, and Prasert Tantisataporn from Supalai.
Attracting targeted investments from developed nations like Australia in technology and digital sectors serves as a crucial strategy for Thailand to upgrade its economic structure and foster high-value industries.
BOI statistics for Australian investments between 2021 and June 2026 show 93 promoted projects with a total investment value of 33,425 million baht. The digital industry led with 13,833 million baht or 41%, followed by chemicals and petrochemicals at 6,936 million baht or 21%, and agriculture and food processing at 3,810 million baht or 11%.
