Swedish electric and autonomous trucking company Einride has announced a major agreement to purchase 500 Tesla Semi electric trucks, making the heavy-duty vehicles available to major clients including Amazon. According to the company, the Tesla Semis will be integrated into Einride's fleet in phases over the next 24 months, with operations commencing this September.
Einride will oversee the management of the Tesla Semis through its proprietary Saga AI software. This fleet management platform is engineered to grant customers all the operational advantages of utilizing electric freight trucks while eliminating the financial and logistical hurdles typically associated with vehicle ownership.

This massive deal marks a pivotal growth phase for Einride, which went public this June and currently operates a fleet of approximately 200 heavy-duty electric trucks for enterprises such as Heineken and PepsiCo. In addition to standard electric trucks, the company develops cabless autonomous pod trucks, all orchestrated by the Saga AI software that optimizes vehicle utilization, routing, and charging schedules.
The collaboration between Einride and Tesla highlights the accelerating shift toward large-scale green logistics in the freight industry. By combining third-party financed hardware acquisitions with centralized software like Saga AI, fleet operators can bridge the gap between heavy capital expenditures and zero-emission operational goals more efficiently.
The partnership with Tesla has the potential to triple the total size of Einride's fleet while boosting commercial prospects for its Saga AI software. Einride stated that the Tesla Semis will serve customers throughout North America, extending its electric freight network into key logistics corridors across California, Georgia, New Jersey, and Texas, utilizing a third-party financier for the truck purchases.
