Freight software provider Alvys has introduced an agentic AI platform that enables carriers and brokers to automate operational tasks directly inside its transportation management system. Named Alvys Foundry, the platform supports both pre-built and custom AI agents designed to operate using freight data and workflows already maintained within the TMS.
Foundry incorporates more than 20 pre-built agent templates, while customers can also build custom agents or collaborate with Alvys engineers to configure workflows tailored to specific operating procedures. These agents handle defined steps in freight operations, including detention processing, document handling, rate audits, shipment tracking, asset compliance, and claims management.

The platform's Detention Agent identifies when detention thresholds are exceeded and files claims automatically, whereas Document Intelligence reads and files rate confirmations, bills of lading, and proofs of delivery. Additionally, the Track & Trace Agent manages check calls and shipment status updates, accompanied by other templates such as the Rate Audit Agent, Asset Compliance agent, and Claims Agent.
Integrating agentic AI directly into transportation management systems represents a pivotal shift from passive record-keeping to proactive logistics execution. By allowing software to autonomously handle routine tasks such as document processing and shipment tracking while maintaining human oversight through governance layers, platforms like Alvys Foundry reflect a broader industry trend seen across major logistics providers to eliminate manual operational bottlenecks.
Operators are not required to manually program these workflows, as they can upload existing standard operating procedures or describe tasks in plain language for Foundry to generate workflows pending approval. Agents can undergo testing against simulated data before deployment, and operators retain full control to build, deploy, monitor, and pause them via the platform.
Alvys CEO Nick Darman stated that the platform was developed after observing how customers adopted AI tools that frequently introduced separate logins without fitting established procedures. Foundry leverages the existing infrastructure behind the Alvys TMS, incorporating over 120 integrations to grant agents access to essential operating context such as lane history and customer rules.
"We have the freight context and we understand your lanes,"

Alvys notes that Foundry operates on a SOC 2-compliant security foundation with agreements preventing customer data from training public models. Furthermore, Foundry includes an Agent Shield governance layer allowing operators to set approval and spending thresholds, alongside a model-selection system to manage computing costs.
