Adis Ngamjitsuksri, advisor to the Bangkok Governor, revealed updates on the "Sweeping Bangkok Homes" operation, which involved raids and arrests targeting a corruption ring issuing personal identification cards for non-Thai nationals, known as pink ID cards (starting with code 7), to children of foreigners.
Following the operation, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt issued an urgent directive instructing the directors of Din Daeng and Lak Si districts to issue orders suspending three related municipal officials from service, effective August 18, 2026, to ensure a transparent investigation.
Concurrently, the Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration signed an appointment order for a serious disciplinary investigation committee targeting all three officials. This administrative process runs parallel to the criminal proceedings managed by investigators at the Din Daeng Police Station.
Corruption regarding the issuance of identification documents for non-Thai residents represents a critical local security issue directly impacting civil registration systems. Bangkok's decisive action to suspend personnel and pursue strict disciplinary measures highlights an effort to plug bureaucratic loopholes and prevent the exploitation of legal frameworks for illicit gains.

Additionally, authorities instructed the Din Daeng district office to urgently review historical moving-in records and identification card processing documents, placing special emphasis on individuals with identification numbers starting with the digit 7. Initial reports indicate that 47 rooms within Din Daeng flats registered 16 or more foreign residents each, spanning locations such as Pracha Songkhro Soi 1, 5, 6, 7, 11, and Mit Maitri Road, totaling 1,468 individuals.
Furthermore, directives have been dispatched to the directors of all 50 districts to strictly audit civil registration databases within their jurisdictions, particularly focusing on anomalous surges in address transfer registrations into residential properties.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration encourages property owners and citizens who notice suspicious address registration activities to report clues via the Traffy Fondue platform, assuring that informants' identities will be kept strictly confidential.
