Google Gemini rolls out dedicated student hub for school
Google has launched a Gemini student hub, Deep Research in Gemini Live, worksheet help via Google Lens, and AI subscription perks for students.

As the back-to-school season approaches, Google is introducing a brand-new dedicated student hub in Gemini. This centralized repository is designed to help students collect research within a study notebook, generate flashcards, take practice quizzes, and streamline their daily academic workflows.
Along with these features, Google is upgrading its study notebooks to support graphs and images. The system can even parse course syllabi to automatically add test dates and assignment deadlines straight to Google Calendar, ensuring students stay on top of their schedules.

In addition, Google is integrating Deep Research into Gemini Live. Users can prompt Gemini to generate complex research reports and discuss the findings interactively. If a report takes time to compile, users can safely close the chat and lock their phone screens, and Gemini will notify them once the report is ready.
Tailoring advanced artificial intelligence features specifically for academic environments highlights a strategic push by major tech companies to embed generative AI deeply into daily learning habits. By addressing research organization, scheduling, and interactive tutoring, these tools are transforming how students approach complex academic challenges.
In the coming weeks, Google will also roll out a new Google Lens feature in its mobile app, allowing students to snap a photo of a worksheet or study material to receive explanations, breakdowns of complex concepts, or coaching feedback if an error is made.
Eligible students located in the US can claim one year of Google AI Pro for free, which includes 5TB of storage, Google Health Premium, higher Gemini usage limits, and cross-app Gemini access. Meanwhile, students outside the US will receive the Google AI Plus subscription, featuring 400GB of storage.
