Twana Jamal Khdir, an Iraqi national previously labeled by authorities as a major figure behind migrant camps in France, was detained on Tuesday near Uppingham. The arrest was executed through a joint operation led by the Midlands Criminal Financial Investigations team, backed by Leicestershire Police.

Following his apprehension, the Crown Prosecution Service formally charged him. Khdir appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday afternoon to face the initial proceedings.
