To see who might challenge them in the 2026-27 season, BBC Sport asked 26 TV and radio pundits to pick their top four along with explanations. Additionally, an AI prediction was generated using Microsoft Copilot Chat by simulating all 380 Premier League matches 10,000 times, reaching the same conclusion as the AI and three pundits.

These predictions were formulated based on how each squad looked on Thursday, August 20, with 13 days remaining until the transfer window shuts at 23:00 BST on Tuesday, September 1. Last season only four teams featured in the forecasted top-four, but this time seven teams are named across 15 different combinations.
Last year, only 17% of BBC predictors, equating to 6 out of 35 people, thought Arsenal would become champions. This year, 89% or 25 out of 28 pundits believe they will retain the title, and no one predicts they will finish lower than second place.
