Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has expanded his impressive real estate portfolio across international waters, acquiring an actual castle and its massive surrounding grounds in Ireland. According to reports from The Irish Times, Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, purchased Strancally Castle along with a 440-acre estate several weeks ago.
While the exact financial figures of the transaction remain confidential, industry estimates suggest the family could have shelled out anywhere between 20 million euros and 30 million euros for the property. The sprawling structure boasts 16,000 square feet of space and was previously restored by its past owners.
Brian Baker, a spokesperson for Zuckerberg, confirmed the acquisition in a statement provided to The Verge, emphasizing that the family values the historical significance of their new acquisition. They plan to look after the residence whenever they travel to the country where Meta houses its international headquarters.

Despite adding an Irish castle to their assets, local reports indicate that Zuckerberg and Chan will continue maintaining their primary residence inside the United States, keeping the historic estate as a visiting residence.
Strancally Castle dates back to approximately 1830, originally constructed for a Tory Member of Parliament. The property's previous owners were Michael Alen-Buckley, co-founder of a private investment firm, and his wife Giancarla.
This international real estate purchase joins an extensive portfolio held by Zuckerberg across the United States. Beyond his new European estate, the Meta executive reportedly owns multiple properties in Palo Alto, alongside holdings in Florida, Washington, D.C., and Hawaii, highlighting a trend of ultra-high-net-worth individuals investing in iconic historical real estate.
