Government Whip Confident Ahead of No-Confidence Debate

MP Korrawee Prissananantakul, speaking on behalf of the government whip, has voiced strong confidence regarding the upcoming no-confidence debate, stating that the administration holds no concerns over the topics the opposition intends to raise. He firmly believes that every minister is well-equipped to provide explanations and reasoning for all matters brought to the floor.

Addressing questions regarding the heavy focus the opposition places on the Senate election collusion controversy—which many view as separate from the current administration—Korrawee noted that it remains to be seen how the opposition plans to establish a connection. He expressed personal curiosity about the link, pointing out that the matter currently rests with the Election Commission and will proceed to the courts if formal charges are filed.

Regarding whether the Speaker of the House of Representatives needs to vet the motion beforehand to determine its admissibility, Korrawee suggested that much of the current discussion is speculative. He noted that the exact contents of the motion and its relation to state administration are not yet finalized, and the administration will evaluate the evidence once it is formally presented.

Korrawee also pointed out that the Senate election process took place two years prior to the current administration taking office. Consequently, the government holds no authority or investigative duty over the election management, as those responsibilities belong entirely to the Election Commission. Nevertheless, should the opposition possess credible information implicating the Prime Minister or other ministers, such matters could be raised during the sessions, though he considers premature to draw conclusions before the motion is formally submitted.

Finally, addressing the security of voting numbers in Parliament, Korrawee expressed certainty that the government coalition will secure the necessary votes. He emphasized that consultations with coalition partners are essential and that mutual respect must be maintained. He urged members to evaluate the substance of the government's responses first, noting that clear and logical explanations will naturally lead to parliamentary approval.
