Anutin to Visit Nan Aug 23 for Flood Relief and Recovery

At 19.45 on August 22 at the Royal Thai Air Force Wing 6 in Don Mueang, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the ongoing flood situation in northern Thailand, announcing his scheduled trip to inspect operations in Nan province on August 23 to accelerate relief and restoration efforts.
The Prime Minister stated that he has maintained close coordination with key ministers stationed in the affected areas, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Yossanan Wongsuwan, Agriculture Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit, and Deputy Interior Minister Jaseth Thaisเศรษฐ์ (Thaiaset), noting that overall conditions are steadily improving.

Regarding financial assistance and recovery, Anutin emphasized that compensation will be fully provided according to official regulations. Specifically regarding the two reported fatalities, he has issued direct orders to secure additional budget allocations to maximize financial support for the affected families. He added that if provincial budgets fall short, reserve funds from the Prime Minister's Office and relevant agencies remain readily available.
The Prime Minister's decision to focus on administrative briefings at the provincial hall rather than direct site visits illustrates a shift toward strategic coordination. By prioritizing high-level discussions with local administrators, the government aims to streamline resource allocation from the central budget without disrupting ongoing field operations conducted by local rescue teams.
During his visit to Nan province, Anutin clarified that he will not tour the flooded sites directly, as local response units are already actively managing operations on the ground. Instead, he will chair a meeting at the Nan Provincial Hall to evaluate what specific support is still required from the central government, ensuring a rapid restoration of the affected areas alongside preparedness plans for other high-risk provinces.
