The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has unveiled "The Year of Transformation" as the country's strategic tourism direction for 2027 at Rajadamnern Stadium, aiming to reshape Thai tourism around quality, value, and long-term competitiveness to become Asia's No.1 High-Value & Meaningful Destination.
TAT has set targets to achieve at least 5% tourism revenue growth over 2026, establish a 60:40 visitor distribution between major and emerging destinations, and secure a place among Asia's top three destinations for traveller loyalty through four key strategic moves: Rebalance Market Portfolio, Shape Experience Platform, Build New Growth Engine, and Transform Together.
Hosting the announcement at Rajadamnern Stadium under the theme The Ultimate Fight reflects TAT's proactive approach to adapting to rapid global changes, shifting the focus from mere tourist volume to high-value economic impact and sustainable community income distribution.
The first move, Rebalance Market Portfolio, focuses on diversifying source markets and expanding into Eastern Europe and Latin America, while the second move, Shape Experience Platform, strengthens the Amazing Thailand brand under "Healing is the New Luxury" alongside the introduction of new characters "Nong Sukjai" and "Nong Rak Yim".
