- Plans are underway to implement AI technology for real-time online shopping and ad monitoring.
- Legal actions initiated for 27 civil cases involving online marketplace scams.

Officials reported on the operations of the Office of the Consumer Protection Board, or OCPB, over the past three months, noting that the agency successfully managed and resolved more than 5,000 consumer complaints. Key priority issues directly impacting public safety included faulty water heaters, beauty products and services, fire incidents, and after-sales service issues concerning electric vehicles.
Beyond general complaints, the OCPB enhanced protective measures in high-risk business sectors by introducing the first electric vehicle e-book label to provide buyers with sufficient decision-making data. The agency also pushed forward the "Right to Repair" initiative and prepared new regulations governing labels and contracts for solar cell businesses and automotive repair services to ensure market fairness.
To improve complaint handling efficiency, the OCPB developed the OCPB FastTrack online system for quicker tracking. Additionally, the agency is integrating artificial intelligence technology to monitor online transactions and advertisements in real-time, enabling faster detection of irregularities. Collaborations with the Royal Thai Police and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society were also strengthened to crack down on electronic cigarettes, illegal loan applications, and unlawful online activities.
Addressing the major issue of online retail disputes, the board resolved to pursue civil lawsuits in 27 verified cases. These covered transactions across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and various websites, involving products ranging from mobile phones and tablets to food and dietary supplements.

Deploying AI for real-time online commerce surveillance marks a crucial step for government agencies in tackling fast-evolving digital marketplace fraud. As social media scams become increasingly sophisticated, automated filtering systems significantly enhance the authorities' capability to intercept illegal products and deceptive advertisements more effectively than traditional methods.
Another major operation involved partnering with the Academic Center for Air Pollution Prevention and Resolution to inspect and confiscate over 30,000 unsafe squishy toys targeted at children, valued at approximately 1,590,000 baht. Furthermore, joint police operations at storage hubs in the Khlong Thom area resulted in the seizure of roughly 15,000 e-cigarettes and related items, with two suspects handed over for legal prosecution. The agency is also promoting the "White Rental Room Business" initiative to establish transparent standards in the rental housing market.
"Consumer protection is a matter of utmost importance. When citizens seek assistance, the key is to ensure progress is made and that consumers receive the best possible resolution and remedy."
