- Total fundraising for the startup now reaches $232 million
- Major music labels and gaming giant EA participated in the round
The startup behind the popular AI image generation model Stable Diffusion has successfully secured a fresh injection of capital, bringing in 76 million dollars in its Series B funding round. This new financial boost elevates the company's total capital raised since inception to 232 million dollars, with the official announcement made public on Tuesday.
What makes this funding round particularly notable is its unconventional lineup of backers, which differs from a typical venture financing approach by including prominent players from the entertainment and gaming sectors. Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group, and gaming giant Electronic Arts all took part, alongside investment firms AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures.
This roster aligns closely with the companies Stability now collaborates with for content licensing and distribution agreements. Prem Akkaraju, who took over as CEO of Stability AI in 2024, described the fresh funding as an affirmation of a shared vision where generative AI empowers every producer, musician, and storyteller.

The company stated that it intends to allocate the capital from this latest round toward expanding its creative production product suite while simultaneously growing its professional services division. At present, Stability provides a diverse range of AI models specifically tailored for music, video, and image generation purposes.
The involvement of major music labels and gaming studios as investors highlights a strategic shift in the entertainment industry. Rather than viewing generative AI solely as a legal threat, these established entities are actively participating in early-stage development to ensure that future creative tools align with their copyright standards and commercial ecosystems.
Founded in 2019, Stability has spent the past year actively integrating generative AI into the creative workflows of various entertainment firms. The company formed partnerships with Universal Music and EA last October, followed by an agreement with Warner Music last November, focusing on co-developing AI tools rather than merely licensing output. On the legal front, Stability recently achieved a major victory when a judge largely ruled in its favor in a UK copyright lawsuit brought by Getty Images, though a similar legal battle in the U.S. remains ongoing.
