Liverpool eye Ismaila Sarr after failing to land Yankuba Minteh

Liverpool are actively exploring alternative options to bolster their attacking department before the transfer window closes on Tuesday, turning their attention toward Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr after hitting a roadblock in their pursuit of another target.

The Anfield club previously had two offers worth £50m and £60m turned down by Brighton for 22-year-old Yankuba Minteh. Following those rejections, Liverpool redirected their interest to Sarr, who netted 21 goals for the Eagles during the previous campaign.

Sarr, boasting 81 caps and 23 goals for Senegal, operates primarily as a right-sided winger and brings valuable Premier League experience. However, indications suggest Crystal Palace are reluctant to part ways with the attacker this summer, despite prior interest from Galatasaray earlier in the week.

While BBC Sport sources indicated a formal bid had been submitted by Liverpool, both the Merseyside club and Crystal Palace have denied that an offer has actually been made. Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing as Liverpool attempt to strike an agreement with Paris St-Germain for France international Bradley Barcola.

Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage expressed his desire for both Sarr and teammate Jean-Philippe Mateta to remain at the club, noting that with three years remaining on his contract, a departure is complicated. Sage also addressed Sarr's current injury status amidst the ongoing transfer speculation.
