Thai national football team forward Arm Supachai from Buriram United has shared a deeply personal story about his relationship with Ray MacDonald, revealing that the well-known actor and TV host adopted him as a son when he was only 9 years old after meeting in southern Thailand.
Speaking about attending the final memorial services, the Buriram United striker expressed gratitude to his club for permitting him to travel to Bangkok and help out with preparations to ensure everything ran smoothly for the family during this difficult time.

Recalling their first encounter in Pattani, Arm explained that he was just a local boy participating in the GOAL Together Cup, a sports initiative aimed at giving underprivileged rural youths a chance to showcase their football skills. Despite being the youngest player at 9 years old and having to compete against 11-year-olds, his determination caught the attention of the organizers.
Grassroots sports development programs in regional provinces often serve as crucial lifelines for talented youth who lack access to professional training facilities. Mentorship from prominent public figures helps bridge the gap between regional potential and professional athletic success in Thai sports history.
Initially, Arm's parents were hesitant to let their young son move to the capital due to safety concerns and his young age. However, Ray MacDonald traveled to meet the family personally to reassure them, taking on the responsibility of supporting his education and career development as he progressed from school football to professional clubs.
"แกก็สอนตลอดครับ ให้เป็นคนอ่อนน้อมถ่อมตนนะครับ และเหมือนนอบน้อมกับทุกคนอ่ะครับ และให้เกียรติกับทุกคนในทุก ๆ การใช้ชีวิต และไม่ไปวิพากษ์วิจารณ์คนอื่นครับ"

The national team forward also emphasized how Ray's teachings on humility, respecting others, and avoiding harsh criticism of people have profoundly shaped his personal life and professional career, especially during moments when his football form dipped and he needed mental encouragement.
