A total of nine Premier League clubs involved in European competitions—Arsenal, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Sunderland—all join the Carabao Cup at this third-round stage.

Manchester United face a tricky Premier League opponent in Brighton, while holders Manchester City welcome Norwich to their home ground. Meanwhile, Leeds could potentially face Chelsea, provided the London club defeats Luton in their upcoming fixture.
The introduction of European participants at this stage often creates fixture congestion, requiring careful scheduling adjustments by organizers to avoid clashes with the opening rounds of the Champions League and Europa League.
