On August 27 at Government House, Nirat Phongsitthithavorn, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and Acting Director-General of the Department of Local Administration (DLA), provided an update regarding the ongoing removal of 5,925 individuals linked to local civil service examination fraud, assuring that the procedure is proceeding according to plan.
Nirat stated that the Central Local Personnel Administration committees in nearly all 76 provinces have completed their required meetings. The process now involves instructing provincial administrative organizations, sub-district administrative organizations, and municipalities to officially issue revocation orders for the fraudulent appointments.

Regarding feedback from local sectors, the DLA has received positive cooperation. Virasak Haddapa, President of the Association of Tambon Administration Organizations of Thailand, confirmed that once all necessary documentation and score records are presented, local leaders understand the situation, and no legal challenges or lawsuits have been filed thus far by those whose names were revoked.
Addressing operational protocols, Nirat emphasized the necessity of compartmentalizing tasks to prevent overwhelming any single agency. While the DLA handles roster management and account restructuring, criminal investigations and legal proceedings are managed jointly by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Royal Thai Police under established legal frameworks.

Managing civil service recruitment registries requires a delicate balance between penalizing fraudulent actors and protecting candidates who achieved valid scores. By delegating criminal probes to specialized anti-corruption bodies while administrative units handle roster adjustments, the Ministry of Interior aims to streamline bureaucratic accountability and restore public trust in local government recruitment.
Concerning adjustments for candidates whose scores qualified them organically, Nirat explained that legal officers will place them into available vacancies without disrupting those already correctly appointed. Further proposals will be reviewed in upcoming committee meetings, with a firm assurance that the entire revocation initiative will be completely finalized by August 31.
