Google has increased the price of its 4K streaming box by $50, bringing the new retail price to $149 compared to its original launch price of $99. The device, which originally debuted in 2024 and doubles as a smart home hub, is the latest piece of hardware from the tech giant to face a cost adjustment.
The updated pricing is currently live on the official Google Store and major electronics retailer Best Buy. However, bargain hunters may still find exceptions, as Amazon appeared to still be offering the streaming device at its original lower price point at the time of reporting.
This price adjustment follows closely on the heels of another hardware announcement from the company, arriving just a couple of weeks after Google launched its new Pixel 11 phone lineup with a $100 price increase over the preceding Pixel 10 models.
The broader wave of price increases across the consumer tech industry highlights ongoing supply chain pressures. Persistent component shortages have been driving up manufacturing costs for hardware ranging from laptops and game consoles to compact streaming sticks, forcing tech companies to pass those expenses down to consumers.
Google is hardly alone in this trend. Earlier in the month, Amazon raised the price of its Fire TV Stick 4K Max by over 40 percent to $84.99. Similarly, Apple implemented sweeping price increases across its lineup back in June, pushing the Apple TV 4K up to $199 for the 64GB version and $249 for the 128GB configuration.
