The Global Compact Network Thailand (GCNT) is hosting GCNT EXPO 2026 from September 2 to 4, 2026, at True Digital Park (West) in Bangkok. The event aims to drive Thai businesses to transition from facing economic and social shocks toward creating sustainable, positive impacts through multi-sector collaboration.
Suphachai Chearavanont, President of GCNT and Senior Vice President of Charoen Pokphand Group, noted that geopolitical conflicts, climate change, online crime, and rapidly changing sustainability regulations pose new risks. While AI and the green economy offer new opportunities, they also widen inequality and adaptation costs for SMEs, requiring people to be at the center of co-designing development.

Michaela Friberg-Storey, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Thailand, proposed three essential transitions: turning sustainability commitments—such as carbon neutrality and protecting 30% of land and marine areas—into verifiable results, closing the SDGs financing gap, and fostering an ecosystem where large corporations support SMEs and workers.
"The transition from SHOCK to SHIFT must happen through actionable steps with verifiable results, allowing the country, businesses, and people to grow together."
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Yodsanun Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, suggested applying the Nature Positive concept and circular economy to boost farmers' incomes. He also emphasized reforming the education system to accommodate out-of-school individuals, ensuring true equality by recognizing diverse human capabilities.
GCNT EXPO 2026 highlights how Thai businesses are adapting amidst global volatility. Pooling resources from the government, UN, and private sector is crucial for addressing structural issues like SME funding gaps and translating research into real-world disaster recovery solutions, all requiring transparent metrics to prevent greenwashing and build long-term trust.
The 3-day event features Day 1 (Sept 2) focusing on geopolitics and global economy, Day 2 (Sept 3) diving into Green Rules and Transition Finance, and Day 3 (Sept 4) addressing Energy, AI, and Human Capital, supported by 22 GCNT member organizations. Attendance is free with online registration.
