On July 27, 2026, at the Parliament House, Mr. Sophon Sarum, President of Parliament and the House of Representatives, served as the chairman for the opening ceremony of a seminar aimed at raising awareness regarding the institution of the monarchy. Titled The Monarchy and Thai Society, the event was organized to demonstrate loyalty and express deep gratitude for royal grace, emphasizing that the monarchy is an incomparable pillar of the nation.
During his opening remarks, Mr. Sophon reminisced about his childhood experiences told by his grandmother, who traveled by oxcart for over 15 kilometers to await the royal arrival of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother in Lam Plai Mat district, Buriram province. This personal account highlighted the enduring and profound devotion of Thai citizens throughout generations.

Mr. Sophon further noted that back in 2015, during a political hiatus on the royal birthday of December 5, he joined local residents in Lam Plai Mat to organize a ceremonial flower tray offering. The neat attire and united participation of the crowd left a lasting impression, reflecting the strong allegiance of the public toward the royal institution. Additionally, a club named Doing Good Deeds for the Father of the Land was established to promote the Sufficiency Economy philosophy.
Organizing community-driven seminars and environmental initiatives alongside civic education highlights a grassroot approach to fostering national unity. By mobilizing local resources without relying on state funding, such projects effectively translate royal guidance into practical community action while strengthening environmental conservation efforts.
Another prominent initiative involves cooperation with sub-district administrative organizations in Buriram province to plant 100,000 trees without drawing from the national budget, dedicated as a merit-making offering to His Majesty the King. Today, the forested area in Lam Plai Mat serves as a crucial conservation zone, highlighting the balance between ecological preservation and community engagement.
Concluding the event, Mr. Sophon stated his commitment to fostering civic awareness among youth and citizens to preserve the nation's natural heritage. He subsequently led attendees in a mindfulness and meditation session under the Dhamma Under Royal Grace program, offering prayers and well-wishes for His Majesty the King on the occasion of his birthday on July 28, 2026.
