- Amadeus is embedding flight and destination content into Anthropic's Claude tools for developers and travel professionals.
- The initiative follows Amadeus shutting down its self-service developer portal in July.
- The move intensifies competition with rivals Sabre and Travelport in agentic AI commerce.
Global travel technology giant Amadeus has announced a partnership with Anthropic to integrate its flight and destination content directly into Claude's AI assistant environment, according to a corporate blog post published on Thursday.
The initiative targets two distinct audiences through separate offerings: a Claude Code toolkit designed for software developers and a proposed Claude Cowork plugin tailored for travel industry professionals, enabling them to interact with travel systems via natural language chat.

For developers, the toolkit integrated within Claude Code provides access to documentation, authentication, connectivity, and travel data directly inside the coding environment. This allows engineers to build prototypes without switching between tools, a transition Amadeus describes as a natural evolution following the closure of its traditional self-service developer portal on July 17 in favor of request-based Enterprise APIs.
Amadeus shifting away from open self-service portals toward request-based enterprise APIs while partnering directly with Anthropic highlights a broader industry shift toward agentic commerce. In this new paradigm, complex software backends are increasingly accessed through conversational AI interfaces rather than traditional graphical user interfaces.
For travel professionals, the proposed Claude Cowork plugin aims to facilitate plain-language research, data analysis, content drafting, and multi-app operations across Amadeus applications, effectively turning the AI assistant into an operational interface for legacy travel infrastructure.
"Bringing travel technology content into Claude represents a crucial step in preparing travel infrastructure for AI-driven, agentic commerce."

Neither offering is generally available to the public yet, as Amadeus has opened a waitlist for the developer toolkit. Furthermore, the company has not yet clarified access terms, pricing comparisons to the old portal, or whether mandatory enterprise contracts will be required.
This strategic move extends Amadeus's broader preparations for AI-driven commerce and sharpens its competitive positioning against industry rivals Sabre and Travelport, both of which have been actively courting external developers with open APIs and agentic marketplaces.
