SteelSeries, a well-known household name among gamers, is expanding its footprint into the controller market with the introduction of the premium SteelSeries Aeon Pro wireless controller designed for Xbox and PC. Instead of easing into the market with lower-priced hardware to build trust, the company is launching straight into high-end territory with a price tag of $259.99.
As for its capabilities, the controller features a tiny OLED screen that helps users navigate between Xbox, PC, or Bluetooth connections. The display allows adjustments for genre-based presets, button remapping, and rumble sensitivity directly on the hardware, while more advanced tweaks like stick deadzones require the GG desktop app on PC.

The most practical selling point is its swappable battery system, borrowed from the brand's high-end headsets. It ships with two batteries lasting roughly 12 hours each, where the spare charges in an included wireless base station that utilizes the same cells as the Arctis Nova Pro, Omni, and Elite headsets. The base features dual USB-C inputs for seamless source swapping.
Under the hood, the hardware sports Hall effect joysticks and triggers alongside mechanical switches instead of membranes for a tactile response and sound. It includes two-position trigger stops and four non-removable rear paddles, which SteelSeries opted for to avoid the wobbliness often found in modular paddle designs.
