The United Kingdom has announced new sanctions targeting West Bank settlements, banning settlement goods and taking action against companies and individuals providing expansion services. Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband told MPs that the British government agrees ethnic cleansing is occurring in parts of the West Bank, perpetrated by settler extremists, while accusing the Israeli government of turning a blind eye and supporting forced displacements. Miliband cited the UN definition of ethnic cleansing as a purposeful policy designed to remove groups by violent means.

In response, Israeli officials announced the closure of the British consulate, accusing the current Labour government of hostile actions against the state. Israel also banned 11 British MPs, including Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott, from entering the country, accusing them of antisemitic and anti-Israel activities.
The escalation follows Israel's recent tender for roughly 1,200 settlement homes in the strategic E1 area east of Jerusalem, drawing widespread global condemnation. Israel further announced the removal of British representatives from the International Gaza Support Center in Kiryat Gat and the termination of British training programs for Palestinian forces.
