Renowned artist Vincent Leroy has transformed the natural scenery of Bali with his latest kinetic sculpture project, titled Eccentric Lenses. The installation consists of a constellation of Fresnel lenses that continuously reframes, fragments, and displaces the surrounding environment, turning the Balinese landscape into a shifting optical field.
The sculpture reacts dynamically to the wind. Each lens rotates around an off-center axis, producing an eccentric trajectory that resembles a slow drift through space rather than a rigid mechanical rotation. Activated by natural airflow, the mobile sculpture never remains still and never repeats its exact configuration twice.

As the lenses shift, the stable landscape beyond the artwork—including mountains, lush rice fields, trees, and the sky—becomes completely fluid. Elements are inverted and brought into unexpected proximity, recomposing continuously based on the viewer's position, movement, and changing light conditions.
Eccentric Lenses explores an alternative form of rotation where the center is displaced and axes remain uncertain.
