Government Whip 2026: Budget 70 on track within 3-day limit

On September 9, 2026, at 10:40 AM at the Sappaya-Sapasathan Thai Parliament Bangkok, Mr. Kornradee Prisnanantakul, MP for Ang Thong and Chief Government Whip, addressed reporters regarding the deliberation of the Fiscal Year 2027 Expenditure Budget Draft, which was scheduled to be reviewed from September 7 to September 9, 2026.
Mr. Kornradee stated that the session has now entered its third day, remaining within the initially agreed three-day framework. Although the meeting has just reached Article 20 out of a total of 41 articles, the whip committee will make every effort to manage the schedule to finish within the agreed timeframe.

The Chief Government Whip further clarified concerns regarding whether the administration intended to deliberately delay the review of the Election Commission (EC) report. He firmly denied any such intention, pointing out that the majority of time spent on inquiries during the sessions has actually been utilized by opposition members.
The annual expenditure budget deliberation is a cornerstone of legislative oversight, dictating the fiscal allocation for state operations. Managing floor time across dozens of statutory articles often requires strict cooperation among parliamentary leaders to prevent procedural bottlenecks.
Furthermore, Mr. Kornradee revealed that the Secretary of the Government Whip has repeatedly emphasized time management since the opening day, as numerous members registered to speak. For instance, the session reviewing the Ministry of Interior budget attracted an exceptionally high number of participating speakers.
Consequently, the government whip is requesting cooperative efforts from members across both opposition and coalition benches to consider reducing the number of speakers per article, ensuring the crucial legislative process concludes on schedule.
When asked by reporters regarding the possibility of holding the final vote on September 10, 2026, Mr. Kornradee replied that everyone must observe how proceedings unfold following the deliberation beyond Article 20.
