Apple has officially announced its latest flagship smartwatches, the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, focusing heavily on advanced health tracking capabilities and enhanced performance. At the core of this upgrade is the new Health Sensing System working alongside the S11 chip, which delivers higher accuracy for the heart rate sensor. It captures live heart rate data more frequently at every 5 seconds throughout the day, while also increasing the frequency of HRV in vitals measurements to every 5 minutes. This detailed data is processed into a Readiness Score ranging from 0 to 10 to evaluate daily physical preparedness with real-time recommendations.
Furthermore, the Health app on the iPhone has been redesigned to support these updates, introducing a dedicated Longevity tab. This includes the Health Age feature to evaluate biological age compared to chronological age, along with assessments for muscle strength, balance, flexibility, on-demand VO2 max testing, and integration with Lab biomarkers for in-depth health evaluations running on watchOS 27.
The integration of Longevity features and high-frequency health monitoring illustrates the continuous shift of wearable technology from basic step counting toward preventive healthcare tools, allowing users to detect physiological anomalies much earlier.

Powered by the S11 chip, the new watches also introduce Audio Intelligence features to simplify daily life, including Sound Recognition for emergency alerts, Live Rewind to instantly replay the last 15 seconds of transcribed conversations, and Siri Recap for intelligent conversation summaries powered by Siri AI. Durability is further enhanced with Ceramic Shield 2 front glass and a dedicated step count watch face.
