Slack is introducing a new feature called Slackforce Surfaces that will allow users to build interactive reports, polls, dashboards, presentations, and microsites directly inside chat windows using artificial intelligence.
With this feature, users can simply describe what they need to Slackbot. The AI assistant will then gather information from relevant conversations and connected applications such as Google Drive or Salesforce to generate the requested tool.

Once Slackbot creates a Surface, it can be shared with colleagues and pinned to channels so team members can view it, interact with it, and leave comments. For instance, Slack demonstrated an example where a user asks for an arcade-themed visualization of AI token usage, prompting the AI to generate a dashboard broken down by divisions like sales, design, and engineering.
“You’re not exporting your data to some other tool to make sense of it, you’re asking Slackbot to build the dashboard, the deck, the report right where the conversation already is, and your whole team can act on it together.”
This update follows Slack's major overhaul of Slackbot months prior, which transformed it into a more capable AI assistant that can summarize cross-channel information, sort messages, and schedule meetings. Slack also introduced collaborative vibe coding channels just last month.
Integrating AI-driven tool creation and real-time data visualization directly into chat platforms highlights a growing shift toward reducing context switching in modern workplaces. By centralizing data from connected enterprise apps into team communication spaces, organizations can accelerate collaborative decision-making.
Surfaces can also be utilized for other use cases, such as building live customer support queue dashboards or financial forecasts powered by connected app data. Slack emphasizes that the feature will strictly access information users have given its AI tools permission to read.
Slackforce Surfaces is available to all customers—including free tier users—with Slackbot enabled in their workspaces, and live data compatibility will launch in October.
