- The platform recently launched a 100,000 dollars per month subscription tier for early post access
The White House has made a bold statement by asserting that Truth Social, the social media platform owned by Donald Trump, stands as the most powerful and popular networking site in the world. The official assertion, provided to The New York Times by White House spokesperson Davis Ingle, directly contradicts the massive user engagement numbers and statistics held by the web's dominant social media giants.
Based on digital metrics gathered by Search Engine Land, YouTube maintains its position as the world's most popular platform with 2.65 billion monthly active users. Facebook secures the second spot with 2.39 billion global users, followed closely by TikTok and Instagram with 2.21 billion and 1.99 billion users respectively. Truth Social fails to secure a spot on the top ten list, where Elon Musk's X and Meta's Threads rest near the bottom with 450 million and 223 million users, trailing even Pinterest's 579 million global audience.
Furthermore, traffic statistics indicate that engagement on Truth Social is experiencing a downward trend. According to reports from The New York Times utilizing data from Similarweb, the volume of monthly visitors to the site declined by 36 percent in July compared to the corresponding period last year. Additionally, the platform averaged 28 million monthly visitors during the first seven months of 2025, a figure that contracted to 25 million during the initial seven months of 2026.
The decision by the White House to champion a proprietary social network owned by a sitting political figure highlights a deliberate communications strategy to bypass mainstream media outlets. While Truth Social commands immense political attention, its fundamental market share and daily active user metrics remain a fraction of traditional technology conglomerates like Meta or Google.
In terms of monetization strategies, the platform recently introduced a high-cost subscription tier priced at 100,000 dollars per month, designed to grant subscribers early access to posts published by Trump and other high-profile accounts, sparking immediate concerns regarding potential corruption and undue influence.
"He communicates directly with the American people and the world without the biased media taking him out of context."

The New York Times report further outlines Trump's frequent publishing habits on the service, which often incorporate artificial intelligence-generated artwork, including a depiction of his head superimposed onto Hulk Hogan's physique and another wielding a hammer branded with an American flag against Iran. Ingle attributed the platform's alleged popularity to President Trump's authentic voice, arguing it serves as a direct pipeline to the public.
