On September 11, 2026, Mr. Chayapak Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, accompanied by Ms. Chomparee Chompurat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, visited Nakhon Si Thammarat province from September 11 to 12, 2026. The visit aimed to drive urban development through digital technology and monitor key initiatives regarding Smart Cities, AI, and Coding to enhance public welfare and create new opportunities for residents.
The first stop took place at the Nakhon Si Thammarat Municipality Office, where Provincial Governor Somchai Leelanoy and Member of Parliament Nanthawan Wichian welcomed the delegation. Dr. Kanap Ketchart, Mayor of Nakhon Si Thammarat, delivered a briefing on the municipality's progress in collaboration with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa). Together, they are implementing digital technologies to optimize city management under the vision of sustainable and excellent innovative urban living.
The municipality's smart city blueprint encompasses 13 filtered projects across five main pillars: Smart Environment, Smart Economy, Smart Governance, Smart Living, and Smart People. These initiatives are designed to make the city modern, safe, and citizen-centric in service delivery.

Among the standout projects is an online complaint system that allows citizens to report issues and track resolutions efficiently. This system is integrated with other digital services, including CCTV traffic monitoring and online queue booking for municipal services.
Pushing Smart City initiatives into regional provinces reflects a concerted effort to bridge the digital divide by applying infrastructure technologies like AI, Coding, and urban data systems to solve local challenges. This approach not only streamlines government administration but also lays a sustainable foundation for the digital economy across key regional hubs nationwide.
Furthermore, the “Hospital on Wheels” project stands out as a major achievement, having earned a good-tier Smart Living award at the Smart City Solutions Awards 2024 by proactively delivering healthcare services directly to local residents. The city has also implemented CCTV traffic systems to monitor road conditions and improve urban mobility.
