The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, has officially opened "Neramit Amphawa," a ten-day evening celebration running from September 11-20, 2026. Staged across the Amphawa Floating Market, King Rama II Memorial Park, and surrounding riverside areas, the event forms part of the Amazing Thailand Food Festival designed to encourage longer stays and boost local economic activity.
The official opening ceremony at King Rama II Memorial Park was led by Mr. Chayachai Saeng-in, Governor of Samut Songkhram Province, and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor. They were joined by TAT executives, government officials, private sector representatives, and local stakeholders. The event is a collaborative effort involving the Amphawa Chaipattananurak Project, the Marine Department, the Royal Thai Police, and Amphawa Subdistrict Municipality to ensure safety and environmental standards.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, stated that Neramit Amphawa breathes new life into a famous riverside destination by blending food, waterways, heritage, and community life into an immersive night-time experience while keeping local identity at the forefront.
Samut Songkhram's "city of three waters" identity represents a unique ecological blend of freshwater, brackish, and saltwater environments that have historically shaped local livelihoods and culinary traditions. Integrating modern light installations and cultural performances into these historic riverside spaces bridges traditional heritage with contemporary tourism experiences.
The visitor journey unfolds across nine interconnected zones, starting from the Amphawa Floating Market gateway, moving through a Blooming Walk, an illuminated garden at King Rama II Memorial Park, architectural bridge lighting, decorated riverside buildings at Rimrabeang, the Amphawa Chaipattananurak Project zone, nature-sensitive garden lighting with firefly effects, the historic Wanwan cinema projection site, and a transformed canal bridge landmark. Special event programming expands during the festival weekends of September 11–13 and 18–20.
The Amazing Amphawa Food Experience brings together up to 60 food, beverage, and local product vendors. Entertainment highlights include traditional Thai performances, retro circle dancing, Suntaraporn-style music, and concerts by prominent 1990s Thai artists including Christina Aguilar, Thai Thanawut, Kwang AB Normal, Jirasak Panphum, and Captain.
