Samsung Unveils AI-Powered Android XR Glasses in Partnership with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker

Samsung has officially announced its first-ever smart glasses at the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London. This project builds upon the concept previously showcased at Google I/O, expanding the Galaxy Ecosystem beyond smartphones into face-worn wearables designed for hands-free daily use, work, and travel.

For the development of the frames, Samsung partnered with world-class eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, resulting in two distinct styles: a sleek black rectangular frame with a flat top brow and curved bottom from Gentle Monster, and a dark brown frame with a slightly lifted browline from Warby Parker for a classic, versatile look. Both brands worked closely with Samsung to customize key touchpoints, such as the bridge of the nose and behind the ears, to ensure an optimal and customized fit for each model.

In terms of hardware specs, the device features a lightweight frame, a power source that delivers up to 9 hours of use on a single charge, and up to 7 additional charges through the charging case. It is equipped with a built-in camera to capture what the user sees, feeding data into the AI processing system. Powered by the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 Platform, it features efficient thermal and power management within a compact form factor.

Samsung stated that these glasses run on the Android XR platform and integrate Google's Gemini capabilities directly into the device. Supported core features include summarizing long texts, reading out important information, real-time language translation, capturing front-facing events like meeting whiteboards to organize them into Notes, requesting recommendations and directions based on current location, and sharing the user's view during video calls and recording from the wearer's perspective. Users can control the device using voice or gestures.
