In a post shared on X, Tesla simply stated, "Go for launch," accompanied by a teaser graphic displaying the date "10.01," pointing directly to an October 1 unveiling event. The graphic also appears to reference the previously promised cold gas thrusters developed by SpaceX, Elon Musk’s aerospace enterprise, which are intended to provide the sports car with unique flying capabilities.
The journey of the second-generation Roadster has faced extensive setbacks since its initial unveiling in November 2017. The prolonged timeline even sparked a public exchange on social media last year between Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who remarked that waiting 7.5 years after paying a $50,000 reservation fee felt excessive, while Musk maintained that Altman had received a refund.
The extended development cycle highlights the extreme engineering complexities involved in merging hypercar-level performance with consumer EV architecture, particularly when incorporating aerospace thruster tech into a road vehicle.

According to recent reports from The Information, the original 2017 vehicle architecture was entirely scrapped in favor of a newly redesigned model ready for imminent debut. Even so, Musk has previously cautioned that actual production will not begin until 12 to 18 months following the grand unveiling event.
