On the evening of July 28, 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and his spouse arrived at the ceremonial ground in Sanam Luang. Ascending the stage alongside the President of the National Assembly and the President of the Supreme Court, they paid respects before the royal portrait of His Majesty the King.
The Prime Minister proceeded to place gold and silver trays of offerings, offered incense and candles, opened the floral krathong cone, and finally lit the candle to offer royal well-wishes according to official protocol.
The annual candle-lighting ceremony on the royal birthday is a significant state tradition held at Sanam Luang to demonstrate the loyalty and gratitude of the Thai people toward the monarchy. It brings together leaders from the executive, legislative, and judicial branches alongside citizens from all walks of life.
Following the ritual, the Prime Minister delivered a formal speech expressing profound gratitude for the royal dedication to the Thai populace, highlighting how royal initiatives and interventions during times of hardship have continuously sustained the nation and its citizens.
The royal anthem was then played by the orchestra, after which the Prime Minister and his spouse received torch candles and joined in singing the Sududi Chom Racha song. Finally, the Prime Minister led the assembly in shouting "Long Live the King" three times, concluding the ceremony.
